2006 Wedding dress trends- Brides want color
Gwen Stefani might have been the first. She wore a pink gown designed by the House of Dior's John Galliano for her wedding day.
Wedding gown couturier Monique Lhuillier has introduced colorful showy sashes on her designs for years. The Wedding Channel magazine's spring 2006 edition features a sumptuous ruffled gown by Lhuillier in pink on page 136.
Singer Pink wore a show-stopping sash in black on her wedding gown.
Since then adventurous non-traditional brides have been seeking colored gowns. Recently both The Today Show and Good Morning America interviewed the editors of Brides magazine and The Knot to discuss the growing trend for brides to select a colored gown. Forward thinking brides are selecting gowns in colors that compliment their skin tones rather than opting for traditional white. The top colors this year are lilac, pink, mocha, champagne, and ivory.
Event at West Egg's bridal and special event handbags follow this national trend.
