Homecoming Dance Traditions Have Changed

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Weekend News From West Egg

The traditions of homecoming dance has changed. Time marches on and teenagers are more apt to go out in groups of friends rather than attending as couples. Girls are going with a group of girl friends ala 'Sex and the City' , guy even if they attend are going as a group and some teenagers are showing up as a group of coeds ala 'Friends'.

All glamed up to dance and mingle the one thing parked at the auditorium's front door is romance. "You have to be with your date the whole night; it gets annoying." a teenager was quoted by the Chicago Tribune's Vikki Ortiz in a front page article. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-no-date-04oct04,0,5174976.story No doubt Carrie Bradshaw has written about her share of annoying dates."

Well no matter how your girl arrives at the dance Event at West Egg has the purse for her. Lindsay comes in festive bright colors of Pink, Blue, Lavender, Mango, Silver Lame and Black. http://www.eventatwestegg.com/bridal/lindsay10700.html

Deer Path Inn a romantic place to pop the question

For the Future Groom Thursdays

Just imagine if Jay Gatsby had something special to ask of Daisy Buchanan. First he would need to get her away from her husband Tom, Mr. Buchanan. The last place Tom would look for both of them is back in the Midwest, where Jay and Daisy hailed from.

If Gatsby had his way he would take her to Deer Path Inn in Lake Forest, IL nestled in a pastoral setting along Chicago’s North Shore. Actor Vince Vaughn, who grew up in Lake Forest, brought then girl-friend Jennifer Aniston to town a few years ago for a little R&R away from the prying lenses of the paparazzi. Here is why.

Deer Path Inn is a romantic little get away for several reasons.

  • The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed with the intimacy of a bed and breakfast while room service is at a large hotel standard.
  • The gardens of the Inn are cozy and very romantic.
  • Award winning for an intimate setting or a grand occasion.
  • The Inn is close to walks along the lake and a car ride away from events in the city.

A bit if History - Built by William C. Jones a Chicago Architect involved in the preparations of Chicago’s 1893 World's Fair. The Deer Path building is styled after The Manor House (c. 1453) located in Chiddingstone - Kent, England; a half-timbered and stucco Tudor home.

Take a look at their website and you’ll see why we included Deer Path Inn on our links page. And if she says 'yes' Deer Path Inn would be happy to service you and your bride as the venue for your wedding.

http://www.dpihotel.com/accommodations.html Deer Path Inn contains 54 guestrooms, including 27 suites.

E-mail us at Event At West Egg info@eventatwestegg.com about your romantic get away at Deer Path Inn.
